Q & A

Where do my ideas come from?

I’ve had many people ask me this, and the simple answer is…I don’t know! My book ideas happen when I least expect them. I can be driving, watching TV, taking a shower, working out, etc. All I know is sometimes, the ideas come so fast that I have too many to keep up with, while other times, none will come to me, which is fine when you have a lot of W.I.P.s.

Who is your favorite book boyfriend that you’ve written so far?

Oh boy, that’s a hard one to answer! There are some that I love more than others, so I would say, Dawson, Conor, and another that can’t be named because he’s not anywhere close to being introduced yet (lol).

What’s the most challenging part about being an author?

For me, it’s criticism not from others but from myself. I’m incredibly critical of myself. It’s my red flag. Some readers might think one of my books is a 4 out of 5 or a 5 out of 5, but I might think it’s a 3 out of 5 because I dissect it and analyze it to the point that’s what I think. When it’s time to publish, it’s tough for me to not keep editing it for months because I feel like it’s not perfect. However, no book is perfect. Some issues always arise, which makes me send it off to the editors because that’s what I pay them for. I pay them to take over so I can stop analyzing so much. After all, sometimes doing more edits creates more harm than good.

Do you have specific songs you listen to when you write?

That depends on the vibe of the book. Some books will have “theme” songs, while others will have a playlist that I listened to on repeat while writing them. Winner Takes All and Chasing The Buckle both have playlists. If you’re wondering what songs are on them, you can find them at the front of the book.
